Summary:

This presentation analyzes data from the Growing up with the Media study and Youth Internet Safety Survey (YISS and YISS2) to discuss characteristics of Internet harassment and online unwanted sexual solicitation. Topics discussed include impact, prevalence rates, demographics of harassers/ solicitors, and frequency of exposure.

Findings include:

- In order to develop targeted prevention programs, we need to understand what youth are doing online and offline.

- Each environment represents an opportunity for risk identification and targerted vulnerability- especially the Internet.
